Our Bunko Rules
We know our rules, but here is what we hope is a convuluted explanation of them for you...
In The Beginning...
- Place three dice, pens and a tablet on each of three tables
- Designate or Number each table 1, 2 or 3
- Have Bunko Sheets printed
- Players draw a Bunko sheet at random and sit at their table across from their designated partner on the Bunko Sheet
How to Play a Round...
- There are six sets in each round of BUNKO. You roll for 1s in Set 1 Round 1, then for 2's in Set 2 Round 1, etc.
- The Number 1 Table controls the pace of play by starting each round and ending each round with a ring of the bell
- The scorekeeper at each table is the first to roll
- Players earn points by rolling the three dice
- In each rotation, players are trying to roll the same number as the set or target number
How to Keep Score...
- One point is awarded for each target number rolled successfully. For example rolling a 1 in Set 1 earns a point
- Five points are awarded for rolling three of a kind of any number except the current target number. For example rolling three 2s while in Set 3 earns 5 points
- Ten points are awarded for rolling a round of 4, 5 and 6 in any round - no other run is worth any points
- Twenty-One points are awarded for a BUNKO! A BUNKO is called when rolling 3 of a kind of the target number. For example, rolling 3 5's in Set 5.
How the Game keeps going...
- The player rolls as long as they score one or more points.
- When they fail to roll the target number on any of the dice, the dice are passed to the player on the left and the scorekeeper records the cumulative score on the Table Tally as the temporary team score
- A set is over when a team at Table 1 reaches 31 points, they ring the bell and the Set is over for everyone
- The other tables keep rolling until the high table rings the bell. They may score more than 31 points, sometimes over 100 points
- When a set ends, all the players at the lower tables get to finish their roll, they could win a set or score a BUNKO after the bell is rung
- Every player gets at least one roll per set
- At the end of each set the winning team from Table 2 and 3 move up to a higher table
- The losing team from Table 1 moves to the lowest table
- During the switch partners are changed
Unexpected, Unnecessary Rules...
THE DAN RULE
When a die rolls in a crack or crevice, it must be rerolled
How to Win Some Money...
- Players keep track of their Wins, Losses and Bunkos on their own BUNKO Score Sheet
- When a player rolls a BUNKO, that player should make a "B" on their sheet in the Set Square of the Round they are playing - only the player that actually rolled the BUNKO gets credit, not the teammate too
- When a team wins a round, both players record a "W" in the square of the Set they are playing
- When a team loses a round, they each record an "L" in the square
- At the end of the BUNKO session, all the players total their Wins, Losses & BUNKOs on their sheets for a chance at the prizes.
- Use the Prize Distribution Sheet to know the amount people win for the Most B's, L's and W's
